There is a lot of evidence for the zircon: a diamond luster and a strong birefringence combined with multifaceted and interesting colors. Together with contrasting metal, the zircon is often combined with other color stones. It is particularly suitable for earrings and pendants - even in a ring, it has a strong effect as untreated stone or in a guessing version. Due to its pronounced birefringence, the lower facets can be seen twice through the panel. This special feature can be emphasized by a special kind of cut, which is developed from the brilliant cut. This birefringence is so effectively staged.
The most common stones are gray-brown to red-brown zircon. The most coveted of them have one
Golden brown color. Colorless zircones are very rare. In the ground state, however, they can be compared with brilliants because of their fire, since they have a particularly sparkling appearance due to the high refraction of the light. The present name comes either from the Arabic zarqun (cinnabar) or from the Persian zargun (gold color). It is also thought that the zirconium got its name by its chemical element zirconium. Colorless zirconias are therefore often ground as diamond substitutes to brilliants. Relatively rarely does zircon appear in opaque, opaque crystals.
Zirons impress with their varieties in different color nuances. Hyacinth is the yellow to red-brown zirconium variety. Starlite is the blue variant - straw yellow to almost colorless zirconium varieties are known as jargon. Zircon is often confused with zirconia (a synthetic stone), but these stones do not have in common. The oldest known mineral of the earth and the moon. The zirconium was built four and a half billion years ago and is the oldest known mineral on earth and also of the moon. One of the most common minerals in the earth's crust was already known in antiquity under the name Hyacinth. Zircon has been used for centuries as a healing stone. A pain-reducing effect is attributed to it.
