Werner Fochtmann – Juwelier (FOCHTMANN) wants its online shop at fochtmann.de to be usable by everyone, regardless of disability or assistive technology. This statement contains the information required by section 14 and annex 3 of the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG).

1. Our service

At fochtmann.de we offer jewellery from our goldsmith workshop. In the online shop you can browse and filter jewellery by category, collection or gemstone; view product details, prices including VAT and availability; order and pay for delivery or collection at our store at Maximilianstraße 16 in Munich; send enquiries about individual pieces, special commissions, repairs and certificates; contact us and subscribe to our newsletter.

2. How ordering works

  1. Find a product using the main menu, the search (magnifying glass icon, tolerant of typos) or the filters on category pages.
  2. Product page: images, description, price and availability. “Add to cart” adds the product to your cart; “Inquire” opens an email to us about this piece.
  3. Cart: opens as a side panel where you can change quantities, remove items and proceed with “Checkout”.
  4. Checkout: provided by our shop system Shopify. You can order as a guest, enter your contact details and delivery address or choose in-store pickup, select a payment method and review your order. Input errors are shown next to the field concerned.
  5. Place the order with the “Pay now” button. You will receive an order confirmation by email.
  6. Withdrawal: use the “Vertrag widerrufen” (withdraw from contract) link in the footer of every page.

We are also happy to advise you in person: by phone on +49 89 29 32 51, by email at info@fochtmann.de or at our store at Maximilianstraße 16, 80539 Munich.

3. How we meet the accessibility requirements

We follow the accessibility requirements of the BFSG and its ordinance (BFSGV), using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 level AA and the European standard EN 301 549 as the technical benchmark. The online shop is partially compliant.

Implemented: full keyboard operation with visible focus; a “Skip to content” link; page titles, a main heading per page and structured headings, lists and landmarks; zoom to 200 % and reflow at 320 pixels without horizontal scrolling; alternative text for product images, decorative graphics hidden from screen readers; unique names for buttons and links; labelled form fields with autofill for name, email and phone; muted background videos that do not start when “reduce motion” is enabled, pause when out of view and can be paused by keyboard; a pause button for the homepage slideshow; cart, search and “Drop a hint” open as dialogs that close with the Escape key; a cookie banner offering “Accept”, “Decline” and “Preferences” equally on the first layer; the page language is set in the code.

Accessibility menu: the “Accessibility tool” link in the footer opens a menu where you can adjust contrast, text size, letter spacing and line height, pause animations and use text-to-speech, among other settings. The menu is provided by Pandectes. It complements the measures above but does not replace them.

Known limitations:

  • The shop is available in English and German. Some legal texts (legal notice, terms of service, refund and shipping policies) are not yet available in German.
  • The announcement bar at the top (white text on a light background), some form labels (for example newsletter and contact form) and the “Sort by” label do not meet the required contrast ratio of 4.5:1.
  • Some buttons and links (for example “Add to cart”, “view product”, “Explore Creations”) use a very small font size; they can be enlarged with browser zoom.
  • The pause button for background videos only appears when using the keyboard. On small screens the announcement bar rotates automatically; it stops on mouse hover or keyboard focus.
  • The fields of the “Drop a hint” form are visibly labelled by placeholder text only; screen readers receive full labels.
  • The footer headings skip a heading level.
  • The cookie banner is provided by a third party (Pandectes GDPR Compliance) and can only be adjusted through its settings. Its texts are currently in English with some German link labels (for example “Google Datenschutz”).
  • Checkout and payment services (Shopify, Google Pay) and diamond certificates from external laboratories are third-party content; we have limited influence on their accessibility.

We are working on these limitations and will update this statement whenever something changes. This statement was prepared on 6 October 2026 based on a self-assessment (automated testing with axe-core for WCAG 2.1 A and AA, plus manual testing with keyboard, 200 % zoom and a 320-pixel viewport on desktop and mobile).
